I'm going to wrap up my personal illness part of the blog as of today. I will, however, continue to update the Slough and Maidenhead daily stats for as long as is necessary.
It is day 17, and I think I am now fully recovered from Covid 19. I'm still waking up with a slight headache, and sometimes I cough a few times - but for the most part I feel like myself again. I honestly can't believe I made it through. As a 'clinically vulnerable' person due to being diabetic with high blood pressure, I have been absolutely terrified of getting this for months. I am just so thankful I made it through.
Just to recap, I think the things that really helped me to recover were:
* I've been taking vitamin D and vitamin K since March.
* I play flute, so my lungs were in good shape - I continued to practice as much as possible. It's all about deep controlled, breathing.
* I slept with my head elavated for the past two weeks. It sucked, but at least I wasn't coughing in the night time.
* I monitored everything constantly - blood sugar levels, O2 levels, and temperature, and I called my GP or NHS 111 at every point that I was concerned. Overall, everyone I spoke to was supportive and helpful.
* I drank tons of water and herbal tea and made ample use of paracetamol and cocodamol.
I really do think recovering from Covid is a gamble. I felt very much like I was under attack by something my body didn't understand and I'm so thankful and greatful that I came through it. I wouldn't wish this on anyone.
I hope everyone stays safe - wear a mask and distance yourself.
Have a good holiday season.
