Day 8 – Weary

Today is day 8. And I’m tired. I just feel really worn out and run down. All my other stats are good although my oxygen is running at around 97% instead of 98%/99%. However, that is very far from the danger zone. I don’t have a fever and my stomach seems to have calmed down. I think I’m hitting the 2nd wave, which a lot of people seem to experience. And I think it’s manifesting by having a bit less energy than usual. Hopefully within the next 24-48 hours I will have my energy back and I will be able to put Covid 19 behind me for now.
I would really appreciate it if Covid gave me back my sense of taste and smell as well. I’m getting a bit of my senses back, but my taste and smell are currently dialled down to a 2 out of 10. So it’s like faint memories of taste and smell. I don’t have much of an appetite unless I’m actually eating something, and then my body remembers that food is a good idea and my appetite returns. And for some reason, salad has tasted really good and I’ve had a garden salad with dinner the past two evening.
One update – I joined the PRINCIPLE trial at Oxford a few days ago. Unfortunately I do not get to try any fun drugs, which is a shame. I’m on the ‘Usual care alone’ plan. My aunt is a pharmacist in the US, and she says they are making great use of Azithromycin for Covid patients there which is one of the drugs be trialled in the PRINCIPLE trial. This is the link to the study if anyone would like to learn more about it:
There is nothing else new to report. I’ve spent most of my day snoozing on the sofa in front of the TV or in bed with my books and the cat. I assume I will be doing the same thing tomorrow.
